History

Process

Heineken® is brewed for twice as long as most other lagers – 28 days – for a balanced richness in taste, clarity, and a brilliant tinge of gold. It is still brewed using the famous Heineken® A-Yeast®, discovered in 1886, and fermented in horizontal tanks instead of the more common vertical tanks used by other beer brands.

Heineken® has won numerous awards throughout its long history, including the prestigious Medaille d’Or in Paris 1875, and the Grand Prix at the Paris Exposition Universelle in 1889.
